More news about: Redlands

The University of Redlands women's basketball team registered a new season-high point total on Friday evening en route to blowing past the College of New Rochelle, 91-61.  In the 30-point victory over the Blue Angels, three different players scored in double figures in Redlands' second-straight non-conference victory during its east-coast road trip.

Senior guard Colleen Goeser (San Carlos, CA) and the Bulldogs started the game hot offensively, and after Goeser scored the first five points for Redlands, the rest of the team chipped in, and with 10:41 remaining in the first half, senior guard Marika Staton (El Centro, CA) nailed a big three-pointer to put the U of R up 15-12.

From that point on, the Maroon and Gray did not look back and closed the half on a 29-19 run while taking a 41-31 lead into the halftime break.

During the second stanza, the Bulldogs turned up the heat even more, scoring an impressive 50 points during the final 20 minutes of regulation.  Everyone on the roster got involved during the huge second half, and it took a total-team effort as the U of R cruised to the comfortable victory over the Blue Angels (7-4).

On the night, senior forward Brittany Oster (Agoura Hills, CA) tallied a team-high 19 points on a fantastic 9-for-12 shooting effort to go along with seven boards.  Junior guard Kaity Lykins (Simi Valley, CA) put together a solid all-around performance as well, scoring 12 points, racking up seven rebounds, and registering a team-best five steals.  Additionally, Goeser finished with 12 points and a team-high seven assists.

Off the bench, Bulldog junior forward Nicole Packard (Thousand Oaks, CA) and freshman forward Nina Newman (San Mateo, CA) provided seven points and six points for the road squad, while sophomore forward Ashton Beth (Windsor, CA) also chipped in with six points.

As a team, the Bulldogs shot 48.1% from the field while racking up a season-best 38-made field goals.  In addition, Redlands nabbed 24 offensive rebounds and dished out 20 assists, both new team-best marks on the campaign.

The Maroon and Gray (7-2) plays in its final contest of its three-game east-coast swing when it matches up with the College of Staten Island (6-1) at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
