Albright Snaps Giants' Winning Streak at Four

La Plume, PA – Albright College overcame career-high performances from Jazmyn Robinson (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern) and Ashley Evans (Wooster, OH/Wooster) on Monday evening on their way to a 92-82 victory over Keystone College in non-conference women's basketball action in the Gambal Athletic Center.  The Lions improve to 5-2 on the season while snapping the Giants' four-game winning streak.  Keystone now sits at 6-2 on the year after playing their final contest of the semester.    
 
Albright built a 19-9 advantage over the first 4:16 of Monday night's contest before Keystone narrowed their deficit to four points, 21-17, on a layup by AAliya Hayes (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) at the 12:48 mark.  The Lions again pushed their advantage back to 10 points with 11 minutes remaining in the period, but Keystone battled back and took a 38-37 lead with 3:39 left on a three-pointer from Evans.  The teams would swap the lead twice before the Giants took a 46-43 advantage into halftime. 
 
Evans led all players with 17 points in the first half for Keystone, who got 11 points from Robinson and 10 points from Chantel Blake (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) in the opening 20 minutes of play.  The Giants shot 54.8 percent from the field in the period including a 6-9 effort from three-point range and a 6-8 showing from the free throw line.
 
Meghan Boyle and Kelecia Harris had eight points apiece to lead a balanced offense for Albright in the first half as nine different Lions recorded points.  The visitors connected on 44.7 percent of their field goal attempts in the opening frame, went 4-10 from beyond the arc and 5-6 from the charity stripe.
 
Albright opened the second half with a 13-4 run to take a 59-50 lead with 12:36 left to play.  Keystone narrowed their deficit to three points, 66-63, with just under nine minutes to play a layup by Hayes but the Lions responded with the game's next eight points to hold a 74-63 advantage at the 6:47 mark.  Albright would lead by as many as 12 points and the Giants never came closer than within six points down the stretch.
 
Harris paced Albright with a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds.  Boyle finished with 15 points, Shannon Thomas netted 13 points, and Emily O'Donnell contributed 12 points in the victory.  Jessica Venturelli led the Lions with nine assists in the contest.  For the game, Albright shot 45.3 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from three-point range, and 72 percent from the free throw line and the visitors held a 53-35 advantage on the glass for the evening.
 
Robinson finished with a game-high 30 points to set a new career-high while the junior also dished out eight assists to lead Keystone.  Evans also set a new career-high with 26 points in the loss.  Blake finished with 12 points and Hayes added 10 points for the Giants in the loss.  Jerica Rode (Lords Valley, PA/Wallenpaupack) was Keystone's leading rebounder with six boards in the contest.  The Giants finished the night shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc, and 70 percent from the free throw line.
 
Keystone will return to action on Friday, January 3rd with a non-conference game at Drew University that is scheduled to tipoff at 4:00 p.m. in Madison, NJ.
