Hornets Race Past William Peace 96-45 Saturday Afternoon

LYNCHBURG, VA
– Every active member of the women's basketball team scored Saturday as Lynchburg College rode a balanced scoring effort to a 96-45 victory over William Peace University.

The Hornet total of 96 points tied for seventh-most scored in a contest in program history, last accomplished February 16, 2013 at Randolph-Macon College.

Lynchburg led throughout after Chaney Forbush connected on a layup at 19:42. The two teams went back and forth for the next minute and a half as Ka'La Jordan tied the game at four on a layup with 18:11 remaining in the first.

The Hornets would go on a 9-0 run to take a commanding, 13-4 lead with 14:44 left and would not let the Pacers get closer than seven the rest of the way. Forbush contributed three points during the run while Shannon Allan, Ann Dorris, and Lauren Penley had two each.

Lynchburg shot 56.2% from the field for the game while holding William Peace to just 20.6% from the floor and not allowing a 3-pointer.

Forbush led all scorers with 16 points to go with six rebounds. Allan had a strong second half to end with 12 points and five boards. Katie Reeves and Charmaine Hairston had 11 points each while Jaimie Grace had career-highs of nine points and 11 rebounds. Dorris finished with seven points and six assists.

Allan now sits 11 points away from becoming the seventh Hornet to become a member of the 1,000 point club.

Lexus Simpson had 13 points for the Pacers (0-5) while Derrica Jones added 12 points and 11 boards.

Lynchburg (4-4) continues the home stand tomorrow as they face #19 Christopher Newport University (5-2) at 4 p.m.
