UW-L Falls to Nationally Ranked UW-Oshkosh

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 51-42 to 22nd-ranked UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall.  The Eagles drop to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Titans improve to 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference.  UW-Oshkosh is ranked 22nd on this week's D3football.com Top-25 Poll. 

The teams combined to go eight-of-47 (17.0%) from the field in the first half as UW-L took a 15-12 lead. 

The Eagles led by as many as seven points at 23-16 with 13:27 left in the game after Maggi Bishop hit a pair of free throws.  The Titans then used a 17-2 run to lead 33-25 with 6:42 remaining.  UW-Oshkosh's  Alicia Tollefson scored eight points in the run. 

UW-Oshkosh led 38-27 with 5:15 left after a Tollefson three-pointer, but UW-L cut the deficit to 44-39 with 2:50 remaining on a Erin Levenhagen three-pointer.  The Eagles could get no closer the rest of the game. Katie Ehlen's three-point play cut the lead to 47-42 with 1:58 left, but UW-L missed its last four shots from the field. 

The Titans went four-of-six at the free throw line in the final :34.

UW-L shot 25.5% from the field, including 15.4% (two-of-13) from three-point range.  The Eagles shot 61.5% (16-of-26) at the free throw line. 

Levenhagen led UW-L with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Ehlen finished with nine points and six rebounds. 

UW-Oshkosh shot 28.6% from the field, including 31.6% (six-of-19) from three-point range.  The Titans shot 70.8% (17-of-24) at the line. 

Taylor Schmidt led UW-Oshkosh with 12 points while Tollefson finished with 11.  Katelyn Kuehl had eight points and game-high 14 rebounds.
