Murtaugh Leads Trinity Women's Basketball Past Anna Maria

Paxton, Mass. – The visiting Trinity College Bantams handed the the Anna Maria College Amcats a 79-46 defeat in women's basketball action at Fuller Activities Center this afternoon. Trinity improves to 3-4 with its second victory in a row, while Anna Maria fell to 3-4.  Senior Taylor Murtaugh (Bronx, N.Y.) poured in a game-high 35 points, hauled in a team-high nine rebounds, and added a trio of assists and steals for the Bantams.  Anna Maria was led by junior Trafficia Warburton (Worcester, Mass.) with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Trinity, which never trailed, opened up a nine-point first half advantage with 12:23 left in the stanza, courtesy of a pair of jumpers by Murtaugh and junior forward Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.).  Katie Pryor hit a three-pointer from the corner and freshman Deja Taitt added a fast-break layup to cut the deficit to 15-11 with 8:27 on the clock. The teams traded baskets down the stretch as Warburton finished the first half with a jumper to leave Anna Maria down five, 29-24 heading into the locker room.

Trinity ballooned its lead to double-digits with just under 13 minutes remaining in the second half, and the Amcats, 40-17, the rest of the way.  The Bantams outshot the Amcats from the field (47%-26%) and forced 24 turnovers.
