Millikin Drops Home Opener

          The Millikin women's basketball team dropped its home opener 74-58 to Simpson College on Dec. 6 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill.

          Millikin couldn't find its shooting touch after a two week layoff hitting only 33 percent from the field.  Simpson hit on 50 percent of its shots.  Millikin left points at the free throw line going 23-37 (62 percent).  Simpson was 22-31 (71 percent) from the free throw line.  The Storm out rebounded Millikin 37 to 29.  Millikin committed 28 turnovers while the Storm had 29.

          Freshman Yip Ypya led Millikin with 13 points.  Kelsey Going had 11 and Holly Haskins had 10.  Jasmine Johnson had a team high nine rebounds and Bria Williams had eight.

          Morgan Terpstra led Simpson with 19 points and seven rebounds.  Katie Ahrenholtz added 15 points.

          Simpson is now 4-2 and Millikin goes to 3-3.

          After playing its first five games on the road, Millikin opened a stretch of eight straight games at home.  Millikin will host Illinois College on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
