Pioneers drop WIAC opener

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team dropped its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener to UW-Oshkosh, 76-49, Wednesday at the Kolf Sports Center. 

Junior Stacy Clark led the Pioneers with 13 points and nine rebounds. Fellow junior Rachel Cropp was the only other Pioneer to score in double figures with 12 points. 

The Titans' Sarah Stecker recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Ashley Neustifter added 14 points of her own and tallied eight assists. 

UWO scored the first nine points of the first half and took a 37-27 lead into halftime. 

The Titans came out of the locker room scoring 12 of the first 14 points for a commanding 49-29 lead with 18:09 to play. The Pioneers struggled shooting from the field, shooting 19.2 percent in the second half and 1-for-14 from beyond the arc for the game. UW-Platteville's free throw shooting was a bright spot as the Pioneers were 14-for-15 from the line. 

The Pioneers host UW-River Falls on Saturday at 7 p.m. for their WIAC home opener.
