Andrade Scores a Career-High 23 in, 80-71, Loss to Roger Williams

Bristol, R.I.-Sophomore forward Vandell Andrade (Providence, RI) scored a career-high 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Rhode Island College lost, 8-71, to Roger Williams in non-conference action played at the Campus Recreation Center on Sunday afternoon.

 

Andrade shot 11-for-17 from the field and also came away with four steals. Sophomore guard Danielle LeBlanc (Warwick, RI) contributed 17 points, five assists and two steals, while senior backcourt mate Cara Paladino (Arlington, MA) chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds.

 

Senior guard Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, CT) led all scorers with 26 points, which included 11-of-14 shooting from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Angelica Ariola (Prospect, CT) and classmate forward Shannon Cullen (Walpole, MA) each scored 16 points, while senior guard Ari Renwick (Westwood, MA) punched in 14 to round out the Hawk contingent in double figures.

 

Cullen and junior guard Amanda Keane (Wilmington, MA) each came away with seven rebounds, while Ariola pitched in with three assists, three steals and a block.

 

RIC shot 44 percent (28-for-64) from the field, 11 percent (1-for-9) from three-point land and 82 percent (14-for-17) from the free throw line. The Hawks shot  53 percent (27-for-51) from the field, 26 percent (5-for-19) from downtown and 66 percent (21-for-32) from the charity stripe.

 

The Anchorwomen held a slight advantage in rebounding, 33-32. 

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Connecticut College on Tuesday, Dec. 4 (7 p.m.).
