Keuka Women's Hoops Earns 1st Win

Seniors Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches), Casey Chamberlain (Perry, NY/Perry) and Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) combined to score 45 points to spark the Keuka College women's basketball team to a 65-42 win over Morrisville State Tuesday evening in the Storm's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener in Morrisville, N.Y.

Bandrowski scored 19 points, shot 6-for-11 and was 5-for-9 on three-pointers while Gravel scored 14 points, shot 5-for-9 and was 4-for-7 on three-pointers to lead the Storm (1-3, 1-0 NEAC).

Bandrowski also handed out a game-high six assists and had four steals while Gravel snared six rebounds and had two steals for the Green and Gold.

Chamberlain added 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds, classmate Taylor Szwec (Candor, NY/Candor) totaled 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 points and freshman Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, NY/Tupper Lake) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds for the Storm, who enjoyed a 52-36 edge on the glass against the Mustangs (1-4, 0-1 NEAC).

Both Bandrowski and Gravel moved closer to joining the 1,000 point club in the loss. Bandrowski now has 968 career points while Gravel is at 901 points.

Junior Erica Pendrak (New Hartford, NY/New York Mills) added five rebounds and three assists as the Green and Gold recorded 18 assists on 25 made baskets.

Keuka shot 25-for-59 (42.4 percent) for the game, including going 15-for-33 (45.5 percent) in building a 38-28 halftime lead.

A suffocating Storm defense clamped down and held Morrisville to 14 second-half points on just 3-for-31 shooting (9.7 percent).

Queen Holquin scored 17 points and Jordan Anderson added 10 points for the Mustangs.

Keuka returns to action with an 8 p.m. home game against NEAC rival Wells College on December 4.
