Five Hit Double Figures In EMU's Win At Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, VA --- EMU's basketball women controlled Mary Baldwin in every facet of the game Tuesday afternoon, and picked up a 90-40 non-conference win on the road.  The Royals shot 52.8% from the floor and had a balanced attack as they improve to 4-1 overall.

While Eastern Mennonite scored first and never trailed, the score was locked up at 6-6 early on.  But the women took over and closed the half on a 44-10 tear, taking a 50-16 lead at the intermission.

EMU out-shot the Fighting Squirrels 51% to 27% in the half, and forced 19 turnovers.

Mary Baldwin couldn't put together a run in the second and the Royals ran away with the win.

Five of the women scored in double figures, led by a season high 17 points from each Bianca Ygarza (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) and Keyla Baltimore (Bristow, Va./Brentsville District).  Ygarza added a team best nine rebounds.  Baltimore was a perfect 8-8 from the floor and handed out a game high four assists.

Jess Rheinheimer (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) canned all three of her three pointers and charted 13 counters, four rebounds, four steals and three assists.  Keke Haynes (Roanoke, Va./William Fleming) and Marla zumFelde (Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) each added 10 points off the bench.

Shanice Miles led Mary Baldwin with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The Royals have their ODAC home opener this weekend, welcoming in Emory & Henry Saturday afternoon.  Start time has been moved back an hour to 3:00pm in Yoder Arena.
