Krajco leads Pioneers to come back victory

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team made a second half come back to squeeze past Dubuque, 81-78, on Saturday at the Edgewood Tip-off Tournament. 

The Pioneers trailed by eight, 51-43, with just over 14 minutes to play. Senior Melissa Carmodyscored five points on the Pioneers' 10-0 run to take a 53-51 lead with 10 and half minutes left.  The Spartans responded with a 5-0 run of their own, but the Pioneers fought back to tie the game up for the seventh time, 58-58, at the 8:47 mark.  UW-Platteville went on to score seven unanswered taking a 68-62, and never let UD retake the lead or tie the game in the final 6:40. 

UW-Platteville had five players score in double figures, led by junior Alyssa Krajco, who recorded her first career double-double. She scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Junior transfer Stacy Clark made her debut for the Pioneers, scoring 20 points and added seven rebounds. Junior Rachel Cropp scored 13 points, while junior transfer Keeley Schulz netted 11 points in her first game in the Orange and Blue. Carmody finished with 10 points, and sophomore Taylor Lorbieckidished out a career-best 10 assists. 

The Pioneers will end their weekend on Sunday when the play Loras at 2 p.m. in Madison, Wis.
