HIRAM, OH – The Hilbert College women's basketball season opened tonight with a 90-53 first-round loss to Hiram College in the Terrier Tip Off Classic. In the first match of the evening, Heidleberg beat Pitt-Greensburg 83-79. Due to the classic format, Hilbert will face Heidleberg tomorrow at 1pm and the hosts will take on Pitt-Greensburg at 3pm.

Hilbert held a 5-3 lead early in the game before Hiram went on a 14-0 run by 11:44 to take a 17-5 lead. The Terriers stayed on the attack pushing it to 29-8 with 5:29 to go but Hilbert responded before the break cutting it to 37-18.

Hilbert just couldn't find their grove in the game while Hiram found ways to finish, shooting 55% from the floor (42% beyond the arc) in the second half. Hilbert pulled down 41 rebounds (13 offensive) while Hiram finished with 49 rebounds.

Wyann Jackson tallied 11 points shooting 50% from the floor all inside the arc. Emily Spiedel also went three for six (one 3-pointer) and was a perfect two for two from the foul line for a total of nine points. Jenah Labuski led the Hawks with six rebounds (four points) and two steals.
