Women’s Hoops Wins Consolation Game of Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team picked up its first win of the 2013-14 season with an 81-54 victory over Lynchburg in the consolation game of the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday night. The Saints even their record to 1-1 on the season.

Three Saints scored in double-figures on the night as the Blue and White scored the most points in a game since an 85 point outburst in 2010.

Aileen Maknati led the Saints with 24 points while Katelyn Fischer added 15 and Kievanna Lacey had 10. Another three Marymount players tallied at least eight points with Miranda Krott and Theresa Wicks both netting nine and Felicia Adomako chipping in eight.

Fischer, Krott and Adomako all flirted with double-doubles on the night. Krott grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, Adomako added nine and Fischer dished out eight assists to go with seven boards.

Marymount dominated the glass, pulling down 51 rebounds to the Hornets' 33.

Shannon Allan led Lynchburg (0-2) with a game-high 27 points.

In the championship game, Haverford topped The College of New Jersey 50-49 in a back-and-forth thriller, hitting the game-winner with seven seconds remaining in the game.

Elizabeth Lynch led Haverford with 16 points while Jacqueline Pizzuto added 11. Kylie O'Donnell scored a game-high 22 points for TCNJ.

Lynch and O'Donnell joined Marymount's Fischer and Lynchburg's Shannon Allan on the All-Tournament Team while Pizzuto was named the Most Valuable Player.

Marymount returns to action on Thursday as it travels to face Randolph-Macon in Ashland, Va.
