Women's Basketball Cruises to Win over CCNY

NEW YORK, N.Y.— The John Jay women's basketball team picked up its tenth win of the season as the Bloodhounds beat the City College of New York (CCNY) 76-46 on the road Wednesday afternoon.
 
John Jay's overall record is now 10-8 (7-2 CUNYAC), while CCNY falls to 3-13 (3-6 CUNYAC).
 
The Bloodhounds scored the first eight points of the contest and led 8-0 with just under eight minutes gone by, while leaving the host Beavers scoreless until eight minutes into the contest.
 
John Jay established a double digit lead at the 10:34 mark to put the Bloodhounds up 13-2 with 10:34 to play.
 
John Jay rapidly increased its advantage in the first period and led by as much as 21 before halftime. John Jay led by that margin with just under a minute to go as the score was 32-11, before going into the intermission ahead34-13.
 
John Jay played on cruise control in the second half as CCNY never got its deficit under twenty. Meanwhile the Bloodhounds rapidly built a bigger and bigger lead through the second period. John Jay took a thirty point lead with 4:47 to go, and the Bloodhounds led by as much as thirty-two later in the period en route to the victory.
 
The Bloodhounds were led by Aneska Tejada who came off the bench for 17 points and 14 rebounds. She connected on 7-of-12 from the floor. Meanwhile Jamecia Forsythe and Victoria Story had 13 points each. Forsythe added 10 rebounds in the win. Danielle Eagan added 11 points for John Jay.
 
CCNY was led by Bria Fisher with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
 
John Jay held a 50-36 advantage in rebounding, helping the Bloodhounds to a 23-5 advantage on second chance points. The Bloodhounds held a 38-18 advantage on points in the paint.
 
John Jay is back in action on Friday for a game at Baruch College at 5:30 p.m.
