Brooklyn, NY --- For the first time in Brooklyn College Women's Basketball history, the Bulldogs will be playing in the championship final of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Women's Basketball Championships, as top seeded BC defeated the #4 seeded Knights of Mount Saint Mary College, 62-42, in the semifinals on Saturday night at the West Quad Center.

Brooklyn (24-6) will take on #2 Hartwick College (21-8) in the championship final tomorrow, Sunday, March 3rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm at the West Quad Center.

Hartwick outlasted #3 Rutgers-Newark in their semifinals matchup, gutting out a, 69-64, overtime victory.

Brooklyn was without starting center Tiffany Thompson who was out with an injury, but sophomore Asia Foster got the start in her place and gave her team good energy.

"I thought Asia and the rest of our squad did a great job stepping up in Tiffany's absence," said Head Coach Alex Lang.  "This is a great opportunity for us to play for a championship on our home court."

Leading the way to the BC win was junior Vanessa D'Ambrosi, who led all scorers with 16 points. Seniors Charnelle Saint Laurent (14) and Brittany Bowen (13) and sophomore Nicole Francomano (11) were all in double figure scoring as well. Junior T'Keyah Francis grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds coming off the bench.

For Mt. St. Mary, Amanda Smith netted 12 points, while Rachel Perrone grabbed 10 rebounds.

Brooklyn shot 41.7% (25-60) from the field and 41.2% (7-17) from three. The Bulldogs also shot 50.0% (5-10) from the line.

The Knights shot 38.8% (19-49) from the field and 33.3% (4-12) from three. Mt. St. Mary also went to the line just three times, converting one (33.3%)

After Mt. St. Mary scored the first seven points of the game, the Bulldogs turned the tables and used a 16-0 run to take a nine-point lead, 16-7, with 10:50 left in the opening half.

Brooklyn would never trail again, as the #1 seed in the in the tournament, would go on to lead by as many as 13, before taking a 30-19 halftime lead.
