#25 Baruch Defeats Brooklyn to Win CUNYAC Championship & Earn NCAA Berth

The Baruch College Bearcats won their sixth straight CUNYAC Championship and seventh in the past eight years on Saturday afternoon at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of The City College of New York.

The Bearcats defeated the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College, 73-62, behind 27 points from Tournament MVP
Francess Henryto also advance to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight year and seventh time in team history.

The Bearcats will discover their first round NCAA opponent in a special online broadcast at NCAA.com on Monday, February 25, at 2:30 pm.

The Bearcats behind strong crowd support jumped out to a 20-10 lead as Henry scored 15 first half points en route to a 41-22 halftime advantage.

During the second half, the Bulldogs threatened on five different occasions to get as close as eight points, but the Bearcats responded each time with defense to force a turnover or scored a key basket to keep the lead at double-digits.

In the end, the Bearcats finished shooting 46.6 percent (27-for-58), including 5-of-9 from three-point range, to walk off with the championship trophy for the sixth straight year.


Iyana Abramshad a solid all-around game with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jasmine Smarrtotaled 10 rebounds and blocked one shot.

Nicole Francomano led the Bulldogs with 18 points.
