Mount Aloysius hit nine three-pointers, including six in the second half, to knock off the Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team 66-63 Tuesday night in the opening round of the AMCC tournament.

The Panthers end the season with an overall record of 15-10 while the Mounties advance to face top-seeded La Roche Friday in the semifinals.

Pitt-Bradford swept the season series, but the young Panthers quickly learned that carried no weight in the postseason. Poor inside shooting and turnovers plagued the women all night yet they still had a chance to possibly force overtime in the final seconds.

Tied at four, Mount Aloysius scored 12 straight points to pull ahead 16-4. Pitt-Bradford complicated matters by going nearly seven minutes without a field goal. The Panthers eventually trailed 27-20 at the break.

Pitt-Bradford cut the deficit to two at 30-28 early in the second half on Geena Sneeringer's layup. The Mounties responded with a 13-4 run to push their advantage back to double-digits.

Carly Dalton's three-pointer with 3:29 left drew the Panthers within six at 56-50. Free throws helped Mount Aloysius extend its lead back to 11 with 1:24 remaining.

Consecutive threes by Alicia Kimmel and Allison Osborne made it 63-58, and after a series of free throws, Kimmel hit another three to get Pitt-Bradford within 66-63. Alexis Restori missed two attempts at the line with 24 seconds left, giving the Panthers one final shot to tie the game.

Dalton's potential game-tying three missed and the Mounties hung on for their second straight victory over Pitt-Bradford in the AMCC tourney. They ended the Panthers' season last year with a 64-50 win.

Mount Aloysius shot 44 percent, including going 14-28 in the second half, and scored 23 points off 21 Pitt-Bradford turnovers. The Panthers only shot 39 percent and couldn't overcome a 9-33 shooting performance in the first half.

Sneeringer had a team-high 15 points, Kimmel totaled 14 and eight rebounds, and Osborne had 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
