Suffolk University Women's Basketball junior Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) became the latest member of the 1,000 point career club reaching the mark on Saturday afternoon.

Ruys hit the milestone marker with 3:27 left in the first half of Saturday's contest against Emmanuel College. Ruys' made jump-shot from the free-throw line was her eighth point of the contest, as she entered the day needing seven for the mark. She finished the day leading all scorers with 17 points in a 56-35 setback.

Ruys becomes the 12th player in Women's Basketball program history to reach 1,000 career points. She is just the second player to achieve the mark as a junior, joining Katie Norton ('00) who scored her 1,000th point on February 2, 1999 versus Elms College.

Ruys becomes the fourth Suffolk University Basketball player to reach the milestone during the 2012-13 season, and fifth active player to have scored at least that amount. She joins teammate Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) on the women's side to reach the marker. Vienneau reached her milestone on December 6th versus Nichols College.

Through 73 career games, Ruys has now tallied 1,010 career points. Her 13.8 point per game average ranks sixth all-time in program history, while her 387 field goals made currently stands as the eighth highest total. She holds the Suffolk single-season record for free-throw percentage as she shot 85.6-percent from the line as a freshman in 2010-11. That season she was ranked 20th among NCAA Division-III Women's Basketball players. She currently stands atop the program high for free-throw shooters as she has made 81.3 percent of her shots from the line throughout her career (234-for-288).

Ruys leads the Rams in several categories during the 2012-13 season. Her 15.8 points per game are a team-high while she ranks seventh among scorers in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), she is also the fifth highest scorer in conference games with a 17.5 points per game average. Ruys has also averaged seven rebounds per game on the season, while her 1.5 blocked shots per game is the fifth highest total in the league.

Suffolk finished the 2012-13 regular season with a 19-6 overall record while finishing with the league's second best record in conference play at 10-2.

They'll open up the GNAC Tournament on Tuesday evening as they host Emerson College at the Regan Gymnasium with a 7:00pm tip-off.
