Brooklyn Rolls To 10th Straight On Senior Day

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team held their senior day 24 hours after it was originally scheduled due to Winter Storm Nemo, but on Sunday the team held a ceremony to honor their five seniors, Karolina Gorna, Tiffany Thompson, Charnelle Saint Laurent, Brittany Bowen and Trina Payne. After the ceremony, the emotionally sparked squad took the court and held Hunter to a season-low 8% shooting from the field en route to the 56-16 victory.

The win brings the Bulldogs' win streak to 10, and the team's overall record to 19-5, 13-2 in CUNYAC play. It also ends the Hawks' six-game upswing and drops them to 11-13, 9-6 CUNYAC.

The BC defense was stifling as they held Hunter scoreless for the first 12:26 of the game, jumping out to a 22-0 first half lead. Melinda Seide would score the basket for the Hawks, but it was the only field goal they would get in the period, as they went into the locker room trailing, 31-7.

All five Brooklyn seniors started the contest and each of them scored in the first half of play with Charnelle Saint Laurent leading the way with nine points at the break.

The second half would see more impressie BC defense, as the team held their opponent to only nine points in the period and only four field goals for the game.

Senior Tiffany Thompson had a lot to do with the defensive dominance, blocking five shots and grabbing 10 boards in her final regular season home game at West Quad.

Saint Laurent led all scorers with 14 points, while no other player notched double figures on either team. Brooklyn did get contributions from their entire squad as all 14 players saw minutes and 12 of them scored in the team's 19th win of the year.

Ayanna Hudson led all players with 15 boards in 35 minutes of action.

Brooklyn will head out on the road on Tuesday to take on CCNY at the uptown campuses' Nat Holman Gymnasium, the site of this year's CUNYAC/Con Edison Basketball Tournament semifinal and championship rounds.

With today's win, Brooklyn clinched the #2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament and will host a quarterfinal round game next Saturday, February 16th at 1 pm. Who they will host has yet to be determined.
