BABSON PARK, Mass. – Senior tri-captain Sarah Collins (Weymouth, Mass.) tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds and first-year Megan Otto (Scituate, Mass.) poured in a career-high 17 points to lift the Babson College women's basketball team to a 70-50 victory over visiting Wheaton College on Saturday.

With their 78th consecutive win against New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponents, the 22nd-ranked Beavers improved to 19-2 overall and 14-0 in league play. The Lyons meanwhile dipped to 8-13 overall and 5-9 in the NEWMAC.

Collins shot 7-for-11 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line for her 16 points. The All-American also added 11 boards and one blocked shot in 26 minutes of action. Otto's career-best 17 points came on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor and a 7-of-9 clip from the stripe. She also dished out a game-high five assists. Senior tri-captain Katerina Mallios (Winthrop, Mass.) had a solid all-around performance with six points, three assists, and two blocks, and first-year Kristen Ferola (Amherst, Mass.) contributed nine points and four assists off the bench.

Senior Hallie Vitagliano (Newton, Mass.) matched Collins with a game-high 17 points, but no other Wheaton player reached double figures. First-year Kiley Showmaker (Fayetteville, N.Y.) came closest with eight points to go with four rebounds.

The Beavers surged out to a 14-1 lead behind six early points from Collins and Otto, and although the Lyons would cut it back to eight three times midway through the half, Babson would eventually take a 32-20 cushion into the break.

Wheaton never drew closer than that 12-point margin in the second half, as the Babson lead surged to as many as 26 en route to the 70-50 final.

GAME NOTES: This was the second meeting of the season and 52nd all-time between the two programs. Babson now holds a 37-15 advantage in the series that dates back to the 1977-78 season… The Beavers have now won 90 consecutive games in which they've held their opponents to less than 55 points… Prior to the game, there was a brief ceremony in honor of Babson seniors Collins, Mallios, and tri-captain Allanah Wynn (Quincy, Mass.). Together, the trio has helped lead the Beavers to an incredible overall record of 103-10, including a perfect 75-0 mark against NEWMAC foes. Their .912 winning percentage is the highest of any class in program history.
