La Roche's Pitts Becomes 7th Lady Redhawk to Score 1000 Points in Win Over Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, PA – Jessica Pitts became the seventh Lady Redhawk to score 1000 career points when she hit a layup with 6:27 remaining in the second half of La Roche's (18-2, 13-1) 81-61 win over Pitt-Bradford (10-9, 8-5) on Saturday.

The Lady Redhawks used a 16-3 and a 9-0 run and shot 63% from the field to build a 41-24 halftime lead. Lashauna Brothers led La Roche with 12 first half points and Amanda Garland added 10 points. Casie Cygan and Pitts took over in the second half with a combined 24 points.

Pitts contributed her thirteenth double-double of the season and finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals.

"Major congratulations goes out to Jess", Coach Gissendanner said. "As unselfish of a player that she is, to reach this milestone her junior year is a testament to her drive, will and her sacrifice to become great".

Pitts' 15 points bring her to 1001 points for her career and twelve shy of sixth place on the all-time scoring list.

Cygan is quickly approaching her 1000th point and scored a team-high 20 points on 10 of 17 from the field to boost her career total to 985 points. Brothers and Garland both had strong games for the Lady Redhawks with 16 and 15 points respectively, and Shataya White finished with 8 points.

La Roche shot a season-high 57% (36 or 63) from the field to improve on their conference-leading percentage. The Lady Redhawks outrebounded the host Panthers 40-29 and scored an incredible 62 points in the paint. They also forced 22 turnovers on 16 steals and outscored Pitt-Bradford 32-4 on the fastbreak.

The Lady Redhawks will host Franciscan University on Wednesday at 6PM at the Kerr Fitness Center. The Friars are led by Lindsay Huck who ranks 7th in the AMCC in scoring (15.2 ppg) and 3rd in rebounding (9.1 rpg).
