Thomas More Seniors Earn Career Win 100 in No. 9 Saints' 90-31 Win Over Geneva

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Thomas More College women's basketball senior guards Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner), Jill Brunsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) and Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) earned their 100th career victory (100-11) as the ninth-ranked Saints defeated Geneva College, 90-31, tonight (Wednesday, January 30, 2013) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 19-1 overall and 13-0 in the PAC and with the loss, the Golden Tornadoes fall to 3-17 overall and 1-12 in the PAC.

Thomas More jumped out to an early 18-4 lead with 14:51 to play in the first half when sophomore forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) made a lay-up.  Geneva cut the lead to 18-8 when Bri Cowden capped a 4-0 run with two free-throws with 13:09 to play in the half.  The Saints closed out the half on a 31-13 lead to extend the lead to 49-21 at halftime when freshman guard Kiley Bartels (Southgate, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) made a jumper with 20-seconds to play in the half.

In the second half the Saints out-scored the Golden Tornadoes, 41-10 as they went onto the 90-31 victory.

For the game, the Saints out-scored Geneva, 46-10, and 49-4 on points off turnovers.  Thomas More also forced 34 turnovers, while only committing six.

The Saints had three players finish with double-figure scoring as sophomore guard Sydni Wainscott (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) scored a game-high 18 points, while Long finished with 17 and Burgoyne had 14.  Sophomore guard Stephanie Krusling (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) led the Saints on the boards with five rebounds, while Long led the team in steals with eight.  Freshman guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the team in assists with six, while Wainscott, Long and junior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) each finished with five assists.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (February 2) when it travels to Washington, Pennsylvania to play PAC rival Washington & Jefferson College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. inside the Henry Memorial Center.
