Baruch Stretches Home Win Streak to 17, Defeat John Jay (78-66)

The Baruch College Bearcats needed a late run to defeat the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 78-66, in a CUNYAC home contest played on Friday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats (17-1, 10-0 CUNYAC) jumped out to a 39-27 halftime advantage and led comfortably throughout the first part of the second half until John Jay battled to cut the score to 54-48 with 10:19 remaining.

John Jay (10-9, 7-3 CUNYAC) had three straight possession opportunities to cut the score even further at that point, but committed two turnovers and missed a layup.

The Bearcats overcame their brief slump and scored 16 of the next 17 points to lead 70-49 with five minutes left. That was enough to clinch the victory to improve to 9-0 at home this season and stretch their home win streak to 17.

Jessica Duleba led four players in double-figure scoring with 17 points and three assists.

Alicea Ulmer recorded her third career double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Francess Henry (5 rebounds) also scored 16 points (4-7 fg), while adding five rebounds and two assists.

Sheridan Taylor notched her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Iyana Abrams contributed eight points and three steals.

The Bearcats out-rebounded John Jay, 59-38, and scored 17 points off 17 turnovers by John Jay.

Victoria Story led John Jay this evening with 22 points and three steals.

Baruch will return to action on Monday, January 28, with a 5:00 pm CUNYAC contest at CCNY.
