Anna Smith had 20 points, but the No. 12-ranked Tommie women's basketball team lost for the third time in its last five games, all on the road, with a 62-56 setback at St. Mary's.

UST led 33-24 at halftime but a 26-5 Cardinal run in the second half put the home team ahead to stay.

The Toms (13-4 overall, 11-3 MIAC) finished 1-of-11 from 3-point range on the game and made only 6-of-23 shots in the second half.

The Cards made 6-of-8 free throws down the stretch after UST had pulled within 54-52 with under 3:00 to play.

The Tommies fell into second place in the conference as first-place Concordia-Moorhead won its 10th game in its last 11, on the road at Carleton. It's the first time since Jan., 31, 2011 that Tommie women's basketball hasn;t shared or held sole possession of the MIAC lead.
