King Powers Guilford Women to Sixth Straight Win

BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- Morgan King paced the Quakers with a game- and season-high 19 points in Guilford College's 70-53 Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball win at league-foe Bridgewater College Saturday. The win marks Guilford's season-high sixth straight win and its 10th in 11 games.

The teams exchanged leads from the start until a Brittany Atwater layup put Guilford (14-3, 7-1 ODAC) up for good with 7:45 remaining in the first half. The Quakers improved from a 45.7 field-goal percentage in the first half to 61.5% in the second, and shot a season-high 52.5% for the game. Guilford scored 27 points off of 18 Eagles' turnovers, compared to the Eagles' seven. King and Jaclyn Nucci scored 11 and nine second-half points, respectively, to keep the Quakers on top.

Logan Hardin scored 10 points off the bench. Gabby Oglesby, Atwater and Nucci each contributed nine points. King and Oglesby shared team-high rebounding honors with eight apiece. Oglesby also had four blocks. Kayla Adams tallied three steals and four assists.

Jessica Mullen led Bridgewater (7-7, 5-3 ODAC) with 18 points. Holly Morgan added nine. Katelynn Hottinger had seven points and eight boards off the bench. Shannan Thorne had a game-high nine rebounds.

The Quakers next play at Emory & Henry College Wednesday (1/23) in a 7:00 p.m. ODAC contest.
