Beavers fall to Wooster; Tie School Blocks Record

WOOSTER, OH - The Caltech women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead against Wooster but ultimately fell 62-39 on Wednesday afternoon.

The opening minutes of the game saw the Beaver hold a 7-4 edge. The home team came back with a mini-run of their own as the Fighting Scots gained a 12-7 lead at the 14:04 mark. Over the next several minutes the teams traded points until the Beavers knotted the score at 16-16 with 9:46 left until intermission.

Wooster start pulled away during the last portions of the half. The Fighting Scots held the Beavers to one field goal the rest of stanza in helping them put together a 19-2 scoring spurt. Wooster went into halftime leading 35-18.

The home squad continued to ride that momentum in the second half. Wooster kept Caltech at bay as they grew their lead in upping their record to 5-4.

Kristin Anderson continued to show her abilities as the first-year scored a team high 10 points while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking four shots.

Another first-year, Grace Leishman, also swatted away four shots in helping the Beavers tie a school record for most blocks in a game with 10. During the 2001-02 season Caltech posted a 10 block effort against Wentworth.
