CLAREMONT, CA – A late rally for the Caltech women's basketball team came up short as the Beavers fell 64-55 to Emerson on Saturday afternoon.

The opening half saw the Beavers and Lion mix it up in a tightly contested opening frame. During the first 15 minutes of the game neither team held a lead bigger than seven points. However, Emerson took a 26-21 lead with 5:26 left and spread that lead to 40-27 at the halftime horn.

The Lions continued to add to that lead in the second half but Caltech had one final push during the game's final minutes. Down as many as 22-points in the second half, the Beavers cut their deficit to eight points at 64-55 with two minutes left in the contest. After forcing an Emerson turnover, the Beavers had three shots just past the two minute mark on the scoreboard but couldn't find the bottom of the net.

While the Lions couldn't score down the stretch, they held forced Caltech into two turnovers during the game's final moments to seal the win.

Stephanie Wong scored a team high 29 points while playing all 40 minutes. The first-year went 10-for-31 from the floor, including a 6-for-16 effort from behind the arc. It is the most points a Beaver has scored this season.

Caltech tallied 13 steals, the second best team mark of the season, in helping them record a 21-18 edge in points off turnovers.
