RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Reigning City University of New York Athletic Conference/Con Edison Rookie of the Week Bria Fisher and Giovanna Blanco picked up their fifth double-double and second double-double of the season, respectively, but the City College of New York (3-11) fell to former women's basketball head coach Kevin Clifford and the College of Mount Saint Vincent (5-8) in a nail biter on Monday evening, 54-52, at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.

Blanco finished with a career-high 13 rebounds and 10 points and added two blocked shots in 35 minutes of action. Tonight's contest marked the fourth consecutive game that the freshman forward reaches double digits in rebounds. Fisher posted 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Beavers recorded 53 rebounds, 23 of which came on the offensive glass. Taylor Pompilio finished with a career-high 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting while Kendra Rivers dished out a game-high five assists off of the Beavers bench.

For the Dolphins, Kelly Fraser was a force all evening and finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds on 10-of-17 from the field and 9-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Great defense by the Dolphins in the final seconds of the nonconference contest preserved the one possession lead for CMSV as a blocked shot and a steal ended in heartbreak for the Beavers.

Down two with eight seconds remaining in the contest, Pompilio grabbed an offensive rebound off of a blocked shot and was fouled, allowing the freshman to head to the line with the opportunity to tie the game at 53. The guard hit the first free throw but the second came up just short and forced CCNY to foul the Dolphins. CMSV proceeded to hit the latter of two free-throws with five seconds remaining as the Beavers looked to force overtime.

However, a steal with one second remaining ended the late rally for CCNY as the final score was 54-52.

The first half was a defensive showcase as both team's struggled shooting the ball but the Beavers held a 19-17 lead heading into halftime.

CCNY returns to Nat Holman Gymnasium on Wednesday for nonconference action against Old Westbury at 5 p.m.
