Big Blue Women Fall at North Park

          The Millikin women's basketball team lost at North Park University 62-54 on Jan. 5 in Chicago, Ill.  North Park improves to 11-2, 2-0 while Millikin falls to 5-7, 0-2.

          North Park took the lead about five minutes into the game and built a 32-21 advantage at the half.  The Vikings had opened up a 17 point lead with just over 17 minutes left to play in the game before the Big Blue began to rally.  Bria Williams pulled Millikin to within one at 46-45 with seven minutes left to play, but

North Park answered with a 7-0 run to widen the gap.  Millikin could never get closer than four points during the game's final four minutes.

          North Park shot 35 percent while the Big Blue hit on 31 percent of its shots.  North Park was 4-17 from three point range while Millikin managed to go 3-11.  The difference in the game came at the free throw line where North Park went 18-26 while Millikin struggled hitting only 13-22 (59 percent).  North Park won the battle on the boards 47-40 including limiting Millikin's second chance opportunities by pulling down 36 defensive rebounds.

          Williams led Millikin in scoring and rebounding with 11 points and nine rebounds.  Holly Haskins also scored 11 for Millikin and Alyssa Saklak added 10.

          North Park got 12 points and 12 rebounds from Sarah Peterson.

          Millikin will travel to Elmhurst College on Jan. 9 for a 7:30 p.m. game.
