UMHB women top Ozarks

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team earned their first conference victory Saturday afternoon in an 86-70 win over University of the Ozarks. With the win, the Lady Cru improves to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in American Southwest Conference action, while the Lady Eagles fall to 4-6 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.  
The Lady Cru jumped to an early 11-4 and held that for the majority of the first half. Ozarks battled to within three points at the end of the half, but UMHB pulled away with an 8-0 run near the end of the second half to secure the victory.

Samara Williams led UMHB with 20 points, while Taylor Tucker added 19. Jovana Miles brought down 13 rebounds for the Lady Cru, with Tucker adding 11. UMHB shot 44 percent for the game and 74 percent from the free-throw line. UMHB also forced 28 turnovers and brought down 55 rebounds compared to the Lady Eagles' 28.

Jordyn Ferrell led three Lady Eagles' scoring double-digit points with 14; Tamara Wilkett added 13 points and Chelsea Glasscock scored 10. Taylor Farmer led Ozarks in rebounds with five while Ferrell brought down four. The Lady Eagles shot 41 percent for the game and 78 percent from the free-throw line.

UMHB will return to host Wartburg in a 2 p.m. game on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
