UMHB women fall to U.T.-Dallas 83-63

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team could not find enough defense to tame Texas-Dallas's offensive presence as the Lady Cru dropped a 83-63 decision to the Comets Thursday night in Belton. The loss drops the UMHB women to 1-7 on the season and 0-4 in American Southwest Conference action. Texas-Dallas improves to 7-1 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 5-0.

The Lady Cru fell to an early 2-15 deficit, cutting the Comets' lead to 40-30 before ending the half at Texas-Dallas 44-30 lead. The second half saw both teams remain scoreless for over three minutes before the Lady Cru went on a 4-0 streak and closed the gap to 36-47. The Comets used an 8-0 run to regain the double-digit lead and controlled that lead for rest of the game.

Macy Moore led UMHB with 19 points, while Taylor Tucker added 15. Tucker and Ashlee Sargent led the Lady Cru with four rebounds apiece while Simone Moreno and Jovana Miles each added three. UMHB shot 37 percent for the game and 60 percent from the free-throw line. The Lady Cru also forced 30 turnovers and recorded 13 steals in the game.

Kellie Loukanis led the Comets with 16 points, while Jo'Anna Davis added 15. Katie Korioth led the Comets with 10 rebounds. Texas-Dallas shot 56 percent from the field and 86 percent from the free-throw line.

UMHB will return to action Saturday when they host Ozarks in a 1 p.m. tip-off at the Mayborn Campus Center. The Lady Cru will then host Wartburg in a 2 p.m. game on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
