NEW YORK – Forwards Bria Fisher and Syreeta Williams combined for 26 of the City College of New York's 53 rebounds but the Dolphins were relentless on defense all evening, forcing 34 turnovers as the College of Staten Island (5-4, 3-0 CUNYAC) defeated the Beavers (1-7, 1-3 CUNYAC), 67-44, on Tuesday evening at Nat Holman Gymnasium.

Fisher posted a game-high 15 rebounds and added eight points. Williams added 11 rebounds and six points and junior guard Kendra Rivers recorded a team-high nine points. Latoya Lee, Sajidah Pressley and senior guard Joyce Li scored six points apiece.

The Beavers came out struggling but a late rally to close out the first half cut the Dolphins lead to one, 26-25. With 2:30 left in the opening half, Rivers hit both of her free throws, Li hit a jump shot from the wing and Fisher beat the halftime buzzer with a layup to cut CCNY's deficit.

CSI outscored the Beavers, 49-19 in the second half to run away with the victory.  City College shot 84 percent from the line, a season-high. The Beavers outrebounded the Dolphins, 53-39.

The Beavers take a short break for final exams and return to the hardwood on Jan. 29 as CCNY hosts Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham at 3 PM.
