UMHB women fall to Louisiana College

Pineville, LA – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team could not find an answer for Louisiana College's relentless pressure as the Cru dropped a 100-50 decision to the Wildcats Monday night in Pineville, Louisiana. The loss drops the UMHB women to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in American Southwest Conference play. Louisiana College improves to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the ASC with the victory.

The Cru scored the game's first points and led 5-2 in the early going, but the Wildcats used a 12-0 run to take control of the game and put together another 12-0 run later in the first half to take the lead well into double digits. LC would lead 56-29 at halftime and the Cru never got closer than 21 points in the second half.

Jovana Miles led UMHB with 11 points and 13 rebounds and Taylor Tucker added eight points and 11 boards. The Cru shot just 24 percent for the game and was limited to four field goals in the second half. UMHB out rebounded the Wildcats 63-47 but turned the ball over 50 times against LC's high-pressure defense in the loss.

Karylon Thornton led Louisiana College with 18 points and Neka Jones and Natosha Gottlieb added 15 apiece. Five players reached double figures and eleven total players scored for the Wildcats. LC shot 39 percent for the game and hit 11 three-pointers in the victory.

UMHB will now return home to open a three-game home stand. The Cru will host U.T.-Dallas for a 5:30 PM tip-off on Thursday before taking on the University of the Ozarks in a 1:00 PM start on Saturday.
