WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team earned its first-ever ODAC victory Saturday afternoon with a 51-41 home triumph over Randolph College.

The Hornets (3-6, 1-2 ODAC) held Randolph (2-4, 1-2) without a point for the first 6:03 of the contest and never looked back on their way to the first-ever conference victory.

Shenandoah held the 'Cats to 17 percent shooting (5 of 29) in the first half as it took a 28-15 lead into the break.

Junior Sarah D'Amico did most of the damage for SU in the opening stanza with 13 of her game-high 15 coming in the opening 20 minutes.

The lead reached 15 points on a pair of occasions and was 13 following a Crystal Petrus 3-pointer 5:03 into the second, but Randolph had an answer.

The WildCats clawed back into the contest thanks to a 7-0 run in just 1:33 of game time - SU led by just four, 41-37, with 4:30 remaining.

Sophomore Holly Chittenden, who was the only other player in double figures with 11 points, hit a spinning layup with 2:43 left and then combined with Corin Scott to drain 6 of 8 attempts from the line down the stretch to seal the victory.

SU, which was outrebounded 29-14 in the second half and 51-40 for the game, saw its visitors score 20 of 32 points in the paint and own a 13-4 advantage in second chance points.

Chittenden led the victors on the boards with a game-high 10. She has four double-doubles this season.
