More news about: Endicott

BOSTON, Mass. – After suffering their first loss of the season, the Endicott women's basketball team bounced back with a strong performance in a 58-54 victory over Suffolk on Saturday afternoon.

Endicott improves to 6-1 with the victory against a tough Rams team that had won five games in a row themselves, but now fall to 7-3 on the season.

Junior Samantha Crough (Cohasset, Mass.) had fifteen points to lead the Gulls, ten of them in a big second half in which the Blue and Green shot almost 50% from the field and hit four of seven three-point attempts.

The Gulls shot over 40% for the game from downtown, led by Jennifer White (Lisbon, N.H.), who went 4-6 and scored 13 points and sophomore Katelyn Wright (Sudbury, Mass.), who scored six of her eight points from outside the arc.

The Rams led 24-21 at the break, but two three-pointers by White early in the second half helped Endicott open up a six-point lead at 37-31. That lead would swell to ten points, but a 16-5 run gave Suffolk a one-point lead again with 3:30 left to play. Endicott ensured that their work would not go unrewarded, as sophomore Kayleen Whall (Medfield, Mass.) scored the next three-points and White hit a three-pointer to give the Gulls the lead back for good.

Suffolk junior Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) led all players with 22 points, and sophomore Iliani Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) pitched in with 18 herself for the Rams, but the Gull's bench outscored Suffolk's 16-4.

Crough had seven rebounds to lead the Gulls, matched by Whall and senior guard Jen McBrien (Medfield, Mass.).

Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) had 11 rebounds for Suffolk, though the Gulls edged Suffolk on the boards 43-39. Vienneau also led all players with five assists, while Wright and Ashley Walenta (Plainfield, Conn.) had three assists apiece for the Gulls.

Endicott will finish their 2012 season on Tuesday evening with a 5:30 pm home game against Emmanuel.

The Rams are off until next year, and will pick up play again on January 8th when they host Middlebury at 6:00 pm.
