(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - All 10 Saints scored tonight (Wednesday, December 5, 2012) as the 11th-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team defeated Chatham University, 95-35, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the PAC.
Thomas More used 54.8 percent shooting from the field (23-of-42) and forced 18 Cougar turnovers in the first half build a 53-21 lead at halftime.
The Saints opened the second half on a 9-3 run to extend the lead to 62-24 with 16:56 to play in the game when junior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made a lay-up. Chatham answered with a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 62-29 when Elizabeth Lewis made a jumper with 15:56 to play in the game. That would be as close as Chatham would come as Thomas More closed out the game on a 33-6 run for the 95-35 victory.
Junior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led four Saints in double-figure scoring as she scored a game-high 20 points. Joining her in double-figures was Kitchen with 15 points, freshman guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 13 points and senior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) with 10 points. Sophomore forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led the team on the boards with eight rebounds. Beasley led the team in assists with six and freshman guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the team in steals with four.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (December 8) when it hosts Washington & Jefferson College at 1 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
