Falcons Move to 7-0; Edge New England College 74-68

Led by a game-high 21 points from Lindsay Karle (Wallingford, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus women's basketball team improved to 7-0 on the year with a 74-68 victory over New England College on Tuesday night. Karle shot 50% from behind the arc to lead the Falcons.

Karle registered 18 of her 21 points in the first half on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, including a 4-of-6 clip from behind the arc.

New England College (6-2) opened tonight's game with an 8-2 run before the Falcons battled back to pull within two at 13-11 on a Karle three-pointer at the 14:41 mark.

With a pair of free throws by Lianna Carrero (Hamden, Conn.) midway through the half, the Falcons took a 17-16 lead, their first since opening the contest 2-0 on a Nicole Acerra (East Haven, Conn.) layup.

The Falcons closed out the first half on a 10-5 run to take a 42-30 lead heading into the halftime break. Albertus shot 60.7-percent from the floor in the opening half, hitting 17 of its 28 attempts.

The Pilgrims cut the Falcons' lead to four at 54-50 with less than nine minutes to go in the contest before the Falcons went on a 6-0 run to extend their lead back to 10 at 60-50.  Albertus' largest lead of the night came with 5:33 left on the clock as the Falcons led by 14 at 66-52.

Annie Raucci (Milford, Conn.) had another solid performance for the Falcons in the victory as she recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The junior added eight steals and three assists.

Carrero registered her seventh-straight game in double figures as she finished with 18 points in 31 minutes of work.

The Falcons, who did not make a three pointer in the second half in just four attempts, finished the game shooting 46.3%, while hitting 20-of-27 from the free-throw line. NEC shot 35.2% from the field, including an 8-of-27 clip from behind the arc.

Three Pilgrims shot in double figures with Taylor Burgess leading the way with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Albertus will head to New London, Conn. on Thursday to take on Conn College in a non-conference 7:00 p.m. match-up.
