NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Facing the College of Mount Saint Vincent in their Skyline Conference opener, the Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team posted a 66-44 win over the Dolphins. The Knights and Dolphins now share an overall record of 2-3, while the Dolphins fall to 0-2 in the Skyline.

With the first half winding down, Mount senior Charniece McCullough (Wyandanch, N.Y.) knocked down a three pointer to push the Knights ahead by double digits, 28-18, going into the locker room.

The Mount extended its lead to 16 just five minutes into the second, as they opened up play on an 8-2 run. With 13:15 on the clock, Dolphins' junior Tanisha Montague (Brooklyn, N.Y.) drained one from behind the three point line to cut the Knights' lead to 13, but this was as close as they would get.

Mount sophomore Natalie Candarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) converted two free throw shots at 7:46 to move the Knights ahead by 21, 55-34. A jumper by Mount junior Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) with just over three minutes remaining ignited a 7-0 run to seal the win.

Perrone had a standout performance for the Mount, recording 23 points and eight rebounds. Sophomores Amanda Smith (Dayton, Ohio) and Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) also reached double digits with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
