RICHMOND, Ind. – The Wittenberg Tigers snapped a three-game losing streak with a 63-47 victory over the Earlham Quakers.

The win was Wittenberg's 50th in 52 all-time meetings with Earlham, a former North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival. The Tigers improved to 2-3 on the young season, while Earlham fell to 1-5.

Wittenberg broke open a close game midway through the first half with a 12-2 run that turned a 10-10 tie into a commanding 10-point Tiger lead. Sophomore Amber Lara (Oak Park, Ill./River Forest) scored seven of her 11 points off the bench during the game-altering run.

The Tigers led 32-20 at halftime and then added an 11-3 burst to start the second half to open a 20-point bulge. Earlham would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way.

"We took a big step Monday night and came out on the short end against Baldwin Wallace, but we came back two nights later and picked up where we left off with a good win," said Head Coach Sarah Jurewicz. "We're getting closer to where I hope we can be for the conference opener on Saturday at Oberlin."

Sophomore Katelyn Haralamos (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) led both teams with 13 points to go along with seven rebounds. Junior Amber Rice (South Charleston, Ohio/Southeastern) added 12 points and five rebounds for the Tigers, who were without the services of senior post Kim Replogle (Houston, Ohio/Houston).

Among the players who stepped up in Replogle's absence were sophomore Karen Daniel-Hamberg (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview) with four points and a game-high eight rebounds and freshman Ali Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) with a career-high six points on 3-of-4 shooting, in addition to six rebounds.
