Bulldogs Fly Past Blue Jays In Women's Basketball, 71-49

More news about: Brooklyn

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team improved to 3-1 on the season, defeating NYU Poly, who fell to 0-5 on the year.  BC, who only led by one at halftime, scored 42 second half points en route to the easy home victory.

With the win, the Bulldogs complete a three-game season sweep against Skyline Conference foes, which is one of the other conferences within the Atlantic Region.  With the CUNYAC going to a 16-game schedule this season, Brooklyn will only see five more non-league opponents, including their next two home games against Stevens Tech (Wednesday) and NYU (Monday).

Senior guard Brittany Bowen found the range for the Bulldogs as she led all scorers with 23 points on 5-9 from three-point range, while Vanessa D'Ambrosi (12) and Charnelle Saint Laurent (10) also notched double-figure scoring.

Point guard Nicole Francomano dished out 11 assists and pulled down 11 rebounds, just missing the triple double as she only scored six points on the evening.

Center Tiffany Thompson pulled down a game-high 13 boards on the night as BC outrebounded Poly 63-30.

"I thought it was a good non-league win for us," said Head Coach Alex Lang.  "We didn't shoot great but we made up for it with hustle and really played some Brooklyn College-style ball in the second half."

Next up for the Bulldogs is Stevens on Wednesday before the team's first conference game on Saturday as the squad will travel to the College of Staten Island for a 12 pm tip.
