ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley won its fourth straight Rinso Marquette Tournament championship Sunday against a hard-pressing FDU-Florham squad by a 81-72 final.

The Dutchmen (2-0) got double-digit scoring from four different players. Kiely Chaklos led with 21 points on the strength of a perfect 15-for-15 night at the free throw line. Her game goes down in the LVC record book as the best night at the line without a miss in program history.

Likewise, the team set a new record for free throws made in a game with 36, breaking the old record of 31 set against Messiah in 1993.

Other women in double digits were Tierney Hiltz with 19, Renee Fritz with 17, and Caitlin Bach with 15. LVC showed no signs of early-season jitters on the floor, shooting 48.2 percent in the game. Fritz finished 8-for-10 on the night with five field goals in the first half.

Defensively, LVC forced five of the 16 turnovers committed by FDU-Florham (1-1). The Dutchmen were helped by a number of wild passes that found their way out of bounds. Bach led in rebounding, recording her first double-double of the season with 17 boards. Hiltz and Kerri Stolle grabbed four boards each.

Though the Devils were able to play up to LVC for most of the game, the Dutchmen began to separate late in the second half. Down 49-50 with just under 10 minutes to play, Chaklos drove for a layup and converted a three-point play on a foul shot, sparking a 7-0 run that shifted momentum and gave LVC a lead it would not surrender for the remainder of the game.

Bach was named tournament MVP, while Chaklos and Hiltz were both named to the all-tournament team.

The Dutchmen continue their season in a home conference opener against Elizabethtown Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
