Coe 72, UW-River Falls 61

The Kohawks (21-7) shot 56 percent from the floor and got 21 points from Kayla Waskow in Friday night's 72-61 women's basketball win over UW-River Falls (21-7) in first-round NCAA playoff action at UST's Schoenecker Arena.

Alise Holst had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons.

St. Thomas 71, Martin Luther 58

The No. 10-ranked Tommies (27-1) used a 17-1 run midway through the second half to erase a 45-41 deficit en route to a win over the Knights (20-8).

Maggie Weiers had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Taylor Young had 14 points and eight rebounds as St. Thomas ran its win streak to 27 and improved to 14-0 at home this season.

The Tommies survived 17-of-30 shooting from the foul line as they had a 51-35 rebounding advantage. Haley Loesch had all nine of her points in the second half and helped UST post a 23-12 advantage in bench points.

Erica Babinec scored 23 points for the Knights, who shot just 30 percent from the floor but stayed in the game all 40 minutes.

St. Thomas plays Coe Saturday at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to the round of 16.
