LA VERNE, Calif. – The Caltech women's basketball team closed the 2011-12 campaign with a 90-36 loss to La Verne on Saturday night in a SCIAC contest at the Frantz Athletic Court.

Just a week removed from setting the NCAA Division III record for most three-pointers made in a game with 26, the Leopards were shooting from deep all night. La Verne hit 17 of their 65 attempts (26.2 percent) en route to the win. The home squad had 10 different players hit at least one shot from behind the arc. For shots inside the three-point line, La Verne (8-17, 6-8 SCIAC) went 17-for-23.

La Verne's first 12 field goal attempts in the contest came from deep as they built an 18-4 lead less than five minutes into the game. The Leopards continued to shoot the ball from distance the rest of the half as they held a 51-16 lead at intermission. During the first 20 minutes the Leopards hit 12 of their 39 attempts from behind the arc. All but 15 of their first half points came from three-point shots.

The Leopards trend from downtown cooled down at bit in the final half as they went 5-for-26 in the final 20 minutes while going 12-for-17 inside the three-point line in taking the win.

For Caltech, the game marked the final time that Teri Juarez suited up in a Beaver uniform. She went out in style with a season high 24 points while grabbing 14 rebounds. Both numbers represented contest highs.

Furthermore, Juarez end the season with a SCIAC best 254 rebounds and 65 steals. The senior joins Lisa Yee as the only Beavers to lead the conference in rebounding. She is the first Beaver player to lead the league in steals.
