MSOE women's basketball advances with NAC Tournament victory over Concordia-Chicago

Senior center Carol Cayo put in 16 points while sophomore forward Shannon Larson scored 14 points as the Raiders knocked off Concordia-Chicago 59-40 Wednesday night at the Kern Center in the quarterfinals of the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament. MSOE advances to face Dominican Friday night in River Forest, Ill. It's the first NAC Tournament victory for the Raiders since they joined the conference.

Cayo also had eight rebounds, three assists and three steals while Larson pulled down six rebounds. Larson was 7-12 from the field. Senior guard Marguerite Wellstein dished out seven assists and grabbed six rebounds. 

The Raiders (17-9) shot 45% from the field for the game while holding the Cougars to 22% shooting and 16% in the first half. Concordia-Chicago did not score their first two-point field goal until 1:52 before halftime. Senior guard Kathleen Collingbourne ended the first half with a running three-pointer just past half court that beat the buzzer to give MSOE a 13-point lead at the break. Concordia-Chicago would not get any closer than that in the final 20 minutes of action.
