TOWSON, Md. – The Cardinals won their 20th game of the season on Saturday in dominating fashion, taking down Goucher 52-28.  CUA forced the Gophers (5-20) into 18% shooting and 24 turnovers, and used a 20-0 run early in the second half to improve to 20-5 overall.

Six Cardinals scored at least four points, led by Jill Woerner with 15 and Jenny McGann with 12.  Katarina Owunna led the way on the backboards with eight, and Holly Janicki was the team leader in assists with four.

Goucher connected on only 9 of 51 field goals, including an 0 for 4 showing from 3-point range.  The Gophers were in led in scoring by Precious Kollock with eight points, while Kiara Doughty pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

CUA led 11-4 following McGann's layup six minutes into the game, and Kelli Josephsen's jumper at the 11:59 mark made it a nine-point lead.

Goucher got to within four following three straight points by Shante Atkinson, but the Cardinals responded with six straight to open up a 21-11 lead.

Another Josephsen jumper, this one coming at the 5:03 mark, pushed the lead to 11, but CUA went cold from there, and did not score a single point for the remainder of the half.

The Cardinals defense more than made up for the frigid shooting though, holding the Gophers to only three points the rest of the way.  CUA wound up taking a 23-15 lead into the locker room.

CUA exploded with a 20-0 run to begin the second half, which all but sealed the game for the Cardinals.  Two McGann free throws finished off the run, which led to a 43-15 lead for CUA.

McGann scored six points during the run and Woerner added four.

The lead remained at 28 following Woerner's basket at the 5:10 mark, and that was as big as the lead would grow.

Molly Streb came off the bench and scored four points in the final minutes for CUA to seal the road win.

The Cardinals now move into the Landmark Conference Tournament where they will face Scranton on Wednesday evening in one of two semifinals.  The home team will be determined by the higher strength of schedule. 

The other semifinal pits Juniata against Moravian, with the semifinal winners facing off on Saturday, February 25.
