NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Jaleesa Gordon continued her run of dominant play and the Lehman women's team shot a season-high 53 percent from the field as the Lightning finished the regular season with an 85-74 win over John Jay College on Saturday afternoon to improve to 8-4 in the City University of New York Athletic Conference.

With the victory, Lehman ensured that it will open next weekend's CUNYAC Championships as the No. 4 seed against the College of Staten Island.

Gordon made sure of that with another standout effort as she totaled 30 points, 17 rebounds and four blocked shots.  The Lightning senior had plenty of help, however, as Amanda De La Cruz dropped in 20 points and handed out eight assists and Paula Robinson scored 17 points.  Lehman also got a nice effort off the bench from Shalaya Nieves, who scored six points to go along with eight boards.

Lehman was in command pretty much throughout, building a 32-17 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first half behind an efficient inside-outside game that featured De La Cruz dropping in jumpers and Alicia McDaniel converting from the low box.

The Lightning appeared on its way to landing the knockout blow early, but to John Jay's credit, the Bloodhounds never backed off, though they still trailed 43-29 at the half.

The second half was where Gordon really turned it on, at one point scoring 11 straight points for the Lightning.  Lehman extended its lead to at least 20 on several occasions, before suddenly going cold and allowing the Bloodhounds back into the game.

A three-pointer by John Jay's Danielle Eagan started a 12-0 run that cut Lehman's lead to just eight points at 76-68 with 2:06 to play.  However, Lehman converted just enough from the foul line (9-of-14) to keep the Bloodhounds from threatening the game's final outcome.

John Jay's Tyana Hale scored a team-high 25 points in the loss, while Jamecia Forsythe notched a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Lehman will host its quarterfinal opponent next Sunday night at Hostos Community College in the Bronx.
