TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Defiance College women's basketball team fell on the road at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Rose-Hulman, 60-33, on Saturday. Sophomore Erica King led DC with 19 points.

Defiance struggled in the first half, as Rose-Hulman opened the game with a 21-2 run over the first 13 minutes of action.  The offense finally found some momentum in the final minutes of the first frame as King knocked down two treys and added two foul shots to close the half. The Fightin' Engineers took the lead into the break, 33-12.

Rose-Hulman kept their advantage in the second half, and used a 15-6 run at the beginning of the half to push the lead to 26 points. The Yellow Jackets tried to whittle down the Engineer lead, but were unsuccessful. 11 second-half points by King were not enough to help Defiance, as Rose-Hulman went on to the victory.

King's 19 points match her total from Wednesday against Earlham. The sophomore guard finished the game shooting five-of-13 from the field and grabbed three rebounds. Junior center Kim Comden added seven rebounds, while sophomore Hannah Harshman pulled down six boards.

Defiance held a 42-38 edge in rebounding, and collected 22 offensive rebounds. As a team, the Yellow Jackets shot 10-of-57 from the floor.

With the loss, Defiance slips to 10-13 overall and 8-8 in the HCAC. Rose-Hulman improves to 8-15 overall and 6-10 in the conference. The Fightin' Engineers were led by 20 points from Alisa Dickerson.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Wednesday, February 15 against HCAC rival Bluffton. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm and can be seen live on the Yellow Jackets Sports Network at www.defianceathletics.com/video/.
