Baruch Routs John Jay in Front of Over 1,500 Fans

The Baruch College Bearcats scored 50 points in the first half and never looked back en route to an 88-53 CUNYAC home victory over the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in an exciting Battle of Lexington contest on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The game was played in front of a full house of fans as more than 10 groups competed for the popular "Ultimate Fan Contest", which was won at the end of the night by the Super Cats.

Fans in attendance were also treated to a special marching band performance from Medgar Evers College Prep High School in Brooklyn, New York. The Athletic Dance Team provided an exciting performance at halftime of the women's game, while the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) sponsored free food.

Bronxnet-TV was on campus to broadcast the game live over the internet and on tape delay at the end of this month on CUNY-TV (details TBA). WBMB, Baruch's growing college radio station, also provided play-by-play and color commentary of both games as the entire campus community came together to celebrate school spirit and enjoy intercollegiate basketball.


Francess Henryled the team in scoring again with 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Sheridan Taylortotaled another double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and two steals.

Vikki DeTatascored 11 points and dished out five assists, while Shamika Boycerounded out the double-figure scorers with a double-double of 10 points and rebounds each to go along with two blocks. Alyscia Jordanfinished with three blocked shots.

Baruch will return to action on Saturday with their most important home game of the regular season against rival Hunter College at the updated start time of 2:00 pm in the ARC Arena.
