Toms secure playoff top seed, share of conference title

Sixteen players scored for the host Tommies (21-1 overall, 19-0 MIAC) as they locked up a share of the MIAC women's basketball championship with Wednesday night's 95-52 win over the visiting Wildcats (1-21, 0-19) at Schoenecker Arena.

UST ran its win streak to 21, improved to 8-0 at home, and locked up the top seed for the Feb. 21-25 MIAC playoffs for the second year in a row.

The Toms lead second-place Gustavus by three games with three to play.

The No. 15-ranked Tommies shot 54% on the game and had 53 bench points. Anna Smith scored 11 points off the bench and Maggie Weiers scored 10. UST converted 8-of-17 from 3-point range.

Sarina Baker scored a game-high 16 points and Jule Mugee scored 13 for St. Catherine.

The Toms are home Saturday to face Concordia-Moorhead (1 p.m.).
