GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Allegheny traveled to the campus of No. 6 DePauw University on Friday night in a battle of the top teams of the NCAC. The Gators were able to keep the game within reach in the first half, but the Tigers were too much for Allegheny to handle, as DePauw handed Allegheny just its third conference loss of the season 80-45.

Allegheny would put together a solid first half against a DePauw team that had won 68 straight conference home games coming into tonight's contest. The lead would change hands seven times in the first 3:29 of the game.

While the Tigers would take the lead, Allegheny would stay within striking distance throughout the first half. A jumper by junior Daryl Ford would cut the lead to just four after a Gator timeout; however, an 8-0 run would push the DePauw lead to double-digits for the first time less than two minutes later.

The second half would not treat the Gators as kindly, as the home team would prove why they are ranked in the top ten of both the D3hoops and USA Today/ESPN national polls. The Tigers would hold Allegheny to just 28.6 percent shooting in the final frame.

Junior Daryl Ford would finish the game with 12 points and a team high four rebounds. Sophomore Erica Restich would drop in a team high 13 points on 5-10 shooting, and junior Heidi Goeller added 10 points and three boards of her own as Allegheny would fall to 13-7 overall, 8-3 in conference play.

The Gators will be right back at it tomorrow afternoon, as they will travel to Springfield, Ohio to take on Wittenberg University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
